Terms of use

Last updated 6 September 2026 · covers the free app, the waitlist, and the My Garden subscription (which is not on sale)

  1. Who we are. Gardnery is an Australian gardening companion operated by its individual maker as a sole trader in Australia. No ABN is quoted here because nothing is sold in this version; one will be shown on this page before any subscription goes on sale.
  2. What you get, free. Today’s answer for the climate zone your postcode maps to, the plant pages we actually ship for that zone, the months each source records, the evidence behind them, one bed in My garden, and exporting or restoring your own data. Coverage is limited by region: the catalogue is built from sources we have permission to use, it is not complete for every zone or every plant, and where we have no admitted source for your zone the app says so rather than inventing a window. Free access needs no account, and it stays free.
  3. My Garden, the subscription. My Garden is an optional paid tier that adds more beds, your past plantings with their dates, and reminders. It is not on sale in the current version of the app; the sections below describe it for when it is. Nothing in the app charges anyone today, and no payment is collected on this site.
  4. Billing, when the subscription is available. No subscription is offered in this version and nothing described in this clause is in force today — it is here so the terms are complete before anything goes on sale. When it does: My Garden is sold only as an in-app subscription through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, and Apple or Google takes the payment, not us, under their terms as well as these. The subscription is for the period you choose — a year or a month — and it renews automatically at the store’s then-current price until you cancel it, so:
    • payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase;
    • the subscription renews unless you turn auto-renew off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period;
    • your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period;
    • you can manage the subscription, and turn auto-renew off, in your store account settings after purchase;
    • no free trial is offered, so no unused part of one is forfeited.
    The first-year price is a launch price and will rise for new subscribers afterwards; a price change never applies to a period you have already paid for without the store telling you first.
  5. Cancelling. Cancel any time in your Google Play or App Store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — only the store can. See Refunds.
  6. What happens if you stop paying. Nothing you entered is deleted. Every planting, bed, past entry and setting stays on your device; you keep the daily answer, every plant page, the evidence, one bed, and export. What stops is adding more beds, the drawing of your past plantings, and reminders.
  7. Your responsibilities. Use Gardnery for personal, non-commercial gardening. Don’t scrape, bulk-download, or resell the catalogue; don’t probe or interfere with the service.
  8. Our content and licences. Gardnery’s advice text is ours. The facts behind it come from openly licensed sources — Queensland, NSW, and other government material (CC BY 4.0) and Flora of Australia (CC BY) — which are attributed in the app on every card and on the Sources page. Those sources’ licence terms apply to their material.
  9. Waitlist. If you join the waitlist we store your email, your chosen interest, an optional postcode, and — only if you tick the optional box — a single yes flag saying you have or would consider a home weather station or thermometer. We will email you once, at launch. See the Privacy policy.
  10. No warranty on outcomes. See the Disclaimer. Your consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded and nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies them — including for a paid subscription. Where a guarantee applies and we fail it, you have the remedies the law gives you, whatever the rest of these terms say.
  11. Changes. We may update the app and these terms; material changes will be dated on this page.
